This Zoom workshop will give you the chance to learn tips and practice your role when representing members called into closed-door meetings with management through interactive exercises, a video simulation, and a discussion.
Members who took a basic steward class this past year are being invited to sharpen their skills when representing co-workers in investigatory interviews during a one-and-a-half-hour Zoom discussion.

Winning Past Practice Grievances

Thursday, June 13, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at SEIU Local 1021 Oakland Office, 1st Floor Conference Room - 100 Oak Street, Oakland, CA
Stewards should be aware of past practices in their workplace so they can defend them from erosion by management. Through a group discussion and pair exercise, experienced stewards will learn the categories of past practice, the test for determining whether they are enforceable, and if so, tips for filing grievances.

Members can now take online training from a computer (laptop or desktop – not phone) at their own pace – and receive a certificate once complete through our MRC Portal. All courses are available in English, Spanish and Chinese, unless otherwise noted.
